Quien Are We

CPR was looking to develop a show to serve Latinx audiences. Utilizing design thinking strategies, I led the development of the show with host May Ortega, editors, and my colleagues on the podcast team. I served as the Lead Producer, responsible for project management, developing the sound and aesthetic of the show and producing, sound designing, and mixing episodes.

My Story So Far

CPR was seeking ways to highlight community voices. I was promoted from podcast producer to community audio producer to spearhead these efforts. One initiative was the creation of the "My Story So Far" podcast, where I visited Colorado communities, built relationships, found individuals willing to share their stories, coached them on storytelling techniques, and produced live storytelling events featuring their personal narratives. The focus was amplifying marginalized voices. Some stories were adapted into podcast segments. The show featured formerly incarcerated individuals navigating reentry, survivors of Colorado's most destructive wildfire, students from a Title 1 high school, restaurant industry workers, and the LGBTQ community in rural Colroado.

Back From Broken

CPR's flagship podcast, "Back From Broken," features stories of people recovering from addiction and other traumas. Hosted by Vic Vela, CPR's weekend news host and a person in recovery himself. As producers, we generated guest ideas, booked guests, conducted pre-interviews, crafted narrative-driven question lists, engineered interview recordings, logged tape, wrote episode scripts, and produced, sound designed, and mixed the episodes.

Music Blocks

CPR was exploring creating educational audio for public school educators. Our team led these efforts and connected with Denver music teachers to develop a podcast idea from CPR's Classical station manager about classical music for kids. The educators expressed a need for short modules to initiate music appreciation conversations across genres. The result was "Music Blocks," a 5-6 minute podcast featuring music from diverse cultures and eras. Over three seasons, the show highlighted how musicians convey emotions, tell stories through music, and explored instrument families.
