Music Blocks is a ¿Quién Are We? is a podcast exploring what it means to be Latino, Hispanic or Chicana ... or however you identify. Host and journalist May Ortega shares stories about our wide-ranging identities and the beautiful things that make us who we are.
As lead producer I developed the sound of the show by producing the pilot and developing a music library for the show. I also project managed the show assigning production work and keeping deadlines. I produced or guided the producer on every episode. I also led the audience research efforts.

¿Quién Are We? was developed with journalists from Colorado Public Radio’s newsroom. The staff formed a working group to brainstorm and discuss way to reach and serve Denver and Colorado’s Latino audiences. After several months of ideas coalesced around the multifaceted TK of Latinx identity.
Through audience research we learned that audiences wanted “everyday” stories of Latinx people. Something that strayed away from the extraordinary. No more stories about extraordinary triumphs or overcoming impossible challenges. Fewer stories about immigration and highlight joy and passion instead.
